APS Live Link

Avatar Setup

For this tutorial I will explain the simplest use case using A single PC for both VR rendering and rendering the UE scene.

The APS live link plugin can be used in configurations ranging from using only a single PC for both VR rendering and rendering the UE scene, to advanced setups using separate PCs for VR tracking/rendering and a separate dedicated tower for UE rendering

Launch The Game

Locate the Mocap Fusion VR playtest located in the Steam Library.

✔ ensure SteamVR is installed.
✔ Power on HMD and controllers.
✔ Run SteamVR Room Setup to ensure floor height is calibrated.

Press PLAY to launch the game in VR.

Download a Mocap Avatar

The APS live link plugin requires the vr avatar skeleton used in APS be the same as the skeleton used in the Unreal scene. Building custom avatars is pretty simple, but for this tutorial I am using the prebuilt UE mannequin standard skeleton avatar available on the workshop.

Workshop Avatars

After launching APS open the VR menu and navigate to the Workshop tab. Click on Download and search for "UE Mannequin" skeleton.

Search for the UE Mannequin to download the mocap skeleton avatar.

After downloading a mocap skeleton avatar you can activate the avatar to connect the avatar to the player by navigating to the avatar browser and clicking on the activate button to load the avatar.

Load Avatar To VR Player

After download a mocap avatar navigate to the Avatars tab, search for "Mannequin" and select the new avatar to activate it.
