Cesium Ion in Mocap Fusion. Creators can visit any latitude and longitude on Earth and record motion capture while experiencing the surroundings of realistic full 3D worlds. Add realism to your performance and inspire creativity. With access to virtually limitless terrains instantly!
Be the Samurai atop Mt. Fuji as you mocap the Katana techniques immersed in the environment and embodied in the character to experience the synergy of the atmosphere. If you need to escape the mundane empty room to find something new and exciting this can be a perfect way to add real context to nearly any animation.
Animator can choose a location that resembles a desired landscape without needing to build a custom scene first. And even save them as a favorite location to visit later.
Go to France and record mocap near the Eiffel tower, or be Spiderman and stand on the roof of a city skyscraper. Record mocap on any beach, island, mountain, arctic, desert, canyon, waterfall, grass meadow in the country with farm houses, almost anywhere!!
Photo-Realistic Worlds
3D Photo-realistic environments you can record mocap anywhere on Earth.
Motion Capture with Flight Simulators
flight simulator are cool in general, but imagine being able to record mocap as the pilot or copilot or passengers. Record tours of real places then be one of the passengers as you review and record the experience. Try the hang glider flight off Mt. Vesuvius and soar over Italy, With the mocap-enabled flight simulator and the included vehicles you can create fun and exciting adventures and animations you can use for anything.
Create airshows using the F-18s like the Blue Angles while you record mocap as the pilot(s) if you need animations of fighter jet pilots, or conduct aerial battle drills in the desert using the A10s and replay the action from the ground to create the animations of the infantry in battle. Or even use the rescue helicopter and go search for wild fires, repond to a medical emergency flight, or any kind of helicopter role if you need helicopter pilot animations! Even a Apache AH64! So much is possible with motion capture, flight simulators and Cesium.
Post Processing Effects
Realistic terrains and paths, roads and trails. Virtually unlimited places you can visit and walk around. Screenshot of a drone post processing effect using blur, pixilation and chromatic aberration.
Important!! To access the Cesium Ion API you must provide a token. This can be done by pasting a token into the cesium_token.txt file in the Mocap Fusion game folder. The next step shows how to create a free Cesium Ion account then create the token. You then only need to copy/paste the token to the cesium_token.txt file then launch the game to test out the Cesium example scene.
If you do not have a Cesium account already you will first need to head over to Cesium Ion to create a new account:
Create a free Cesium Ion account
If you already have a account skip to the next step to add the Google 3D tiles to your assets and create the access token.
Add Google Photorealistic 3D Tiles
After logging into your Cesium Ion dashboard you can now access assets and manage tokens.
The included Cesium example requires the Google Photorealistic 3D tiles asset.
Click on the "My Assets" tab and add item ID 2275207
Next you will need to create a API token to allow access to the asset. Click on the "Access Tokens" tab to create a new token:
Locate the Access Tokens tab and click "Create Token" to create a new token.
Enter a name for the token, eg. Google 3D Tiles and click the "Create" button.
Click on the "Copy Token" button. Then paste the token into cesium_token.txt
Now that you have created a token you need to add the token to the game. Look for cesium_token.txt in the game folder:
%USERPROFILE%\appdata\LocalLow\Animation Prep Studios\LUXOR\Cesium Ion\cesium_token.txt
If there is a valid token it will now be available whenever the game loads a scene. This token is used by any custom scene that includes a Cesium tileset component and was built without a supplied token. Eg. the included Cesium example scene does not ship with a token.
Important!! If you have already downloaded the Playtest or Full version you will need to opt-in to the "Future" branch to download the update. To do this you can switch to the "Future" branch from your Steam app by right clicking on the game and locating the Future version from the Betas participation list. You should see the update download, then after launching the game look on the top of the Landing panel or Settings panel to find the version number which should read as v10.0.5+..
Edit The cesium_token.txt File
Locate cesium_token.txt from the under the Cesium Ion folder.
Look for Open In Explorer button in the Cesium Geo Panel:
Setup Complete! The token has been added and the Cesium scene should now load.
Next is to launch Mocap Fusion in VR and load the Cesium example scene. This scene was included so you can access the photorealistic landscapes quickly. You can build a custom scene too using the APS_SDK and Cesium for Unity package for example if you anted to adjust the sky for evening lighting, or add a detailed apartment model on one of the skyscrapers for a view of a real cityscape; then yeah build a custom scene!! But this tutorial only explains the included Cesium scene.
Now onto loading the Cesium example scene!
Cesium Example Scene
Launch the game and from the VR panel navigate to Assets > Scenes and click on the Cesium scene from the list.
If the token was added successfully you should see the Google 3D tiles start to load. If the token was invalid or not provided the scene will remain blank.
Keep in mind tiles need to load initially before being shown, if nothing appears immedietely, it can take up to 15 seconds before tiles become visible depending on internet connection.
Geo Coordinates Panel
This panel allows you to specify a (latitude, longitude, height) point anywher on earth, click the "Go" button to move to the location.
If everything worked you should see your token displayed the Token field and the Geo Coordinates panel is opened automatically. If you see the token 0000.0000.0000 then the token did not load. Make sure you saved the text file!
Saved Locations a few were already added as examples, you can save/delete locations and visit them anytime in the future!
I've added as favorites in "saved locations" including: New York, Sydney, Niagara Falls, Mt. Fuji, Stonehenge Mt. Vesuvius, Mt. Kilimanjaro, Diamond Head crater. You can delete all of those and save your own favorites!!
Custom Scenes
Custom scenes are entirely possible. Here is a screenshot of a Honolulu custom scene with evening lit skybox, fog, reflective water shader and clouds.
You can build a custom scene that includes Cesium tilesets and use them in mocap. If you delete the token before building the scene and wish to share the map other users will only need to add a token to cesium_token.txt
eg. the included Cesium example scene does not ship with a token.
That's the end of this tutorial 🎉🎉🎉 Thanks for reading I hope you enjoy this free addon! This feature is still in development so check back soon for updates !! 😃
